Workshop on Politics and Society: "Young Women’s Diffuse Feminism: The Context, the Networks, the Affects"

Özyeğin Üniversitesi
Orman Sk
Nişantepe Mahallesi, Çekmeköy, İstanbul 34794

In the 2010’s, issues of gender have become some of the top matters that polarize societies worldwide. This fact applies to Turkey as well. One consequence of this development is a growing interest in feminism, especially among young women. The outcome may be described as "diffuse feminism" which attracts young women to itself in different degrees. This talk will focus on the transnational and the national context to this mobilization, the kind of networks that are at play and the primary affects that lead the young women into feminism in these circumstances.
